Artist's Note:
This RAF aircraft was shot down over Norway. Don Mac Intyre managed to crash-land it on a frozen fiord. The Engineer, Vic Stevens, was the only casualty with a broken ankle. The aircraft then sank to the bottom of the fiord
After weeks of evasion the crew crossed into neutral Sweden - with the exception of Vic Stevens who was captured. They returned to Britain and continued to fly on operations.
The crew agreed to sign the original drawing from which hundreds of the above plaque were manufactured and sold internationally. ALL the proceeds went into helping raise the aircraft - which can now be seen in the RAF Bomber Command Museum, Hendon, London - the last Halifax.
